ECONO LODGE OF WILKES-BARRE CHOSEN AS "INN OF THE YEAR"
-- (05/15/2003)-- The Econo Lodge, located at 1075 Wilkes-Barre Twp. Blvd., has been awarded the Inn of the Year by Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) franchisor of the Econo Lodge hotel brand. Choice Hotels annually presents the Inn of the Year Award to hotels that demonstrate lodging excellence. The best of each brand is selected by a committee of peer hoteliers who evaluate the hotel on a variety of factors including guest service, hotel cleanliness and hotel décor during several unannounced inspections. THE LUZERNE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF MARY BEVEVINO COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD -- (05/12/2003)-- Wilkes-Barre Msgr. Michael J. Delaney of the Church of Saint Gabriel, Hazleton, and Dr. Michael A. MacDowell, President of College Misericordia, will be jointly honored as the recipients of the Mary Bevevino Community Service Award at the Luzerne Foundation's Annual Meeting and Reception on May 14. WILKES UNIVERSITY ALUMNUS MAKES MAJOR GIFT TO ESTABLISH NEW SCHOOL
-- (04/16/2003)-- Wilkes-Barre Wilkes University officials today (April 15, 2003) announced the acceptance of a $3 million gift that will establish a new school of business and leadership, expanding and reshaping the university's business curriculum. The funds will be used to create programs that serve a range of students from undergraduates to executives. The school will provide a strong core business education reinforced through the development of leadership skills and effective, ethical business practices. In addition, it will house a center for executive education to provide leadership development programs for business executives from throughout the region. (continued) |
